Former Trump official says media “was too busy calling Trump racist” to report on possible lab origins of the pandemic

Former Trump official Richard Grenell said the media “was too busy calling Trump a racist” to report on possible lab origins of the pandemic.

In April of 2020, the US Intelligence Community stated that COVID-19 was either spread from an animal to humans or the Wuhan lab. A statement reads, “The IC will continue to rigorously examine emerging information and intelligence to determine whether the outbreak began through contact with infected animals or if it was the result of an accident at a laboratory in Wuhan.” Grenell told CNN’s Jim Acosta that the media ignored the second theory until this month.

When former President Donald Trump brought light to the theory, the media called it a baseless and racist conspiracy. “Nothing has changed except for the media newsrooms suddenly now are charged up about something that they should have been charged up [about] in April 2020,” Grenell said. Minimal new information has been released regarding the Wuhan Institute of Virology, however, a new investigation has been ordered by the Biden administration.

Grenell served as the Trump administration’s acting Director of National Intelligence and was a former spokesman to the United Nations. When asked if he believed China would cooperate in an international investigation, Grenell cited the CCP’s ‘infiltration’ of UN leadership. He said, “I have zero faith the WHO is ever going to do anything but what the Communist Party of China wants it to do.”
